Edward “Ted” A. Chamberlain

Edward “Ted” A. Chamberlain, 87, of Hollis, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2026.

Ted was born in Nashua, New Hampshire, on June 1, 1939, the son of the late Reginald and Grace (Hills) Chamberlain.

On September 30, 1961, Ted married the love of his life, Joan (Bancroft) Chamberlain, in Pepperell, Massachusetts. Together, they shared nearly 62 years of marriage before Joan’s passing on September 15, 2023. Their years together were filled with love, family, and many cherished memories.

Ted dedicated many years of service to the Hollis community and was an active and familiar presence in town throughout his life. He was a longtime lineman for the Hollis Telephone Company. He joined the Hollis Fire Department in 1956, where he rose to the rank of Chief from 1988 to 1998. He was an active member of several fire and forestry organizations throughout Southern NH.

Ted loved spending time in the great outdoors, camping with the family, working in the woods, country music, and westerns.

He is survived by his two sons, Gary Chamberlain, his fiancée Kellie O’Sullivan and her son Logan Galian, and Richard Chamberlain and his wife Lee-Anne, his sister Claire (Chamberlain) Chase, her husband Don, and family. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Patrick Chamberlain and his daughter Annabelle, Kyle Chamberlain, his wife Hanaah and their son Griffin, Corey Chamberlain, Logan Chamberlain and his wife Devin, Mitchell Chamberlain and Nic Gamache. Survivors also include; Dolly Bancroft and family, Donald Bancroft, his wife Martha and family, as well as many cousins and friends.

SERVICES: A service will be held at Hollis Congregational Church, 3 Monument Square, Hollis, NH 03049 on Saturday, October 3, at 2:00 pm. A reception will be held directly after, also at the Hollis Congregational Church. Friends and family are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Ted’s loving name may be made to the Hollis Fireman Association, c/o Hollis Fire Department, 10 Glenice Drive, Hollis, NH 03049.
