Joan Eileen Drivick

Joan Eileen Drivick passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, September 2, 2026.

Mum, Joanie, Aunt Joan, Nana, and GG was born on December 17, 1935, in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She was the youngest of eight children born to John and Mary Hastings of Mattapan, Massachusetts. She was predeceased by her siblings John, Henry, Paul, Mary (Shea), Grace (Tolland), Alice (Conley), and Barbara (Bragg). Her father was a veteran of the First World War, where he received the Purple Heart. Her brothers John and Paul saw combat action in Europe during the Second World War, while Henry, a Marine, endured and survived four first-wave landings in the Pacific, earning the Silver Star at Iwo Jima.

Encouraged by her brother Henry, Joan enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where she served as a corporal. She was stationed in Washington, D.C., where she met James, who would later become her husband of 32 years. Together, they had three children, including their son James, who also served in the Marines.

Once her children were grown, Joan went on to become a very successful Realtor in the greater Nashua, New Hampshire, area and served a term as president of the Nashua Board of Realtors. Joan earned her well-deserved retirement by moving to The Villages, Florida, where she lived for more than 18 years in the Village of Hacienda North. She loved her many friends and activities, including ballroom dancing, mahjong, and participating in the military honor guard. Joan loved her church, First Baptist Church of Leesburg, where she served in the thrift shop. She especially loved traveling and saw much of the world, including Israel, Egypt, China, Turkey, Croatia, Italy, destinations throughout Europe, and many places across the United States. She had a particular love for Marco Island, Florida, which she visited annually for nearly 30 years.

Joan is survived by her beloved, large, and ever-growing family. Her children include daughters Deborah Hurley (Bob) and Brenda Kittle (Larry), and son James Drivick (Patricia). Nana Joan adored her nine grandchildren: Elizabeth Thomson, Meredith Manders, Andrew Hurley, Matthew Kittle, Zachary Kittle, Victoria Partin, Alexandria Kittle, Luke Drivick, and Samantha Drivick. Joan was predeceased by her precious granddaughter Lexi (Alexandria) Kittle in 2011 at just 10 years old. GG also delighted in 12 (plus 2 on the way) great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Joan’s life will be held on Monday, October 5th at 11:00 AM at True Light Baptist Church, 219 Chestnut Hill Road, New Boston, NH 03070. Reception to follow at Fratello’s, 155 Dow Street, Manchester, NH 03101. The burial will be held on Tuesday, October 6th at 2 PM at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH.
