Edward Martin Glomb, Sr.

Edward Martin Glomb, Sr., affectionately known as “Ed” to his friends, passed away peacefully at the Merrimack Hospice House in Merrimack, New Hampshire, at the age of 79.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Ed dedicated much of his life to serving his country as a career member of the United States Navy, where he achieved the rank of Master Chief. Following his Naval career, he continued working in engineering and technical design, including work involving military design and guidance systems.

Those who knew Ed will remember him not only for his accomplishments, but for the person he was. He had a wonderful sense of humor, loved a good joke, and had a way of making people laugh. He was a caring man who always put his family before himself. His kindness and devotion to his family were among the qualities that defined him and will be remembered most.

Ed had a love for travel and enjoyed exploring new places and experiencing the wonders around him. He especially enjoyed traveling to Montana and throughout parts of Canada. He was also an enthusiastic Toronto Blue Jays fan. Anyone who watched a game with Ed knew that his reactions could be almost as entertaining as the game itself. His expressive face said everything when the Jays won, and even more when they lost!

In his later years, Ed was blessed with a close circle of friends who brought tremendous joy into his life. Their friendship and companionship made him very happy. They enjoyed exploring new places together, eating out, getting together to visit, sharing laughs, and simply enjoying one another’s company. These friendships became a cherished part of Ed’s golden years, and the happiness they brought him will always be remembered.

Ed was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marilynn Glomb, who passed away in 2015; his parents, Dr. Albert Martin Glomb and Mary Barbara (Webb) Glomb; and his sister, Paula Ann “Polly” Glomb Fagan.

He is survived by his sister, Mary Valley of Billings, Montana; his son, Edward Martin Glomb, Jr.; his daughter-in-law, Jennifer Lee Glomb; and many extended family members and dear friends who shared in his life and whose lives were touched by his kindness, humor, and friendship.

Ed’s life was filled with service, family, friendship, laughter, and a love of discovering new places. He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him, but his memory will live on through the many lives he touched and the memories he left behind.

In his final moments, with his son and daughter-in-law by his side, Ed’s final words were simple and profound: “I love you.”

Those words, spoken softly to his son and daughter-in-law will be carried in their hearts always.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Ed’s memory to Home Health & Hospice Care, in support of the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, New Hampshire, where Ed received compassionate care in his final days.

A private service will be held at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, New Hampshire, where Ed will be interred beside his beloved wife, Marilynn. After being apart since her passing in 2015, they will finally be together again.
