Joseph Francis Soucy
Joseph Francis Soucy, age 78, died Thursday, August 6, 2026, at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, NH. He was born on September 3, 1947, in Lawrence, MA, the firstborn of Walter and Grace (Rotondo) Soucy. He was the husband of Carol (Greer) Soucy, whom he met at N.E Circuits in Merrimack, NH, in 1979, and married on February 19, 1983, at the family home in Methuen, MA.
Joe graduated from Tenney Memorial High School in Methuen in 1965. He worked for his grandfather’s business, Rotondo’s Dairy in Methuen, from 1965-67. He also found time to become the 1967 New England Diamond Belt Undefeated Welterweight Champion.
Enlisting in the Navy Reserves in 1966, he was called up for duty in 1967 and deployed to Gibraltar, where he served as a cook aboard the Destroyer Charles H. Roan. He was honorably discharged in 1972. He found work at various hi-tech industries, including Raytheon 1974-78, N.E Circuits, and Gloucester Engineering. In 1983, he found his true calling when he joined Toyota of Nashua as a car salesman, eventually becoming one of the top 10 Toyota salesmen in all of New England. He also worked for Auto Fair Automotive in Manchester, NH in the 1990’s.
Joe excelled in all his endeavors. He had a strong work ethic, and that carried over into his hobbies. He enjoyed all forms of music as well as playing guitar. He loved photography, which earned him 3rd place in a Nashua Telegraph Contest. He was an avid reader of poetry, old and new, and wrote much himself. He self-published a book of his poetry named “Waiting for the Write.” A New England Sports fan, he eagerly waited for the next season to begin. Above all, he had an open and loving heart as well as an inquisitive spirit. He was already for the next adventure.
He retired in 2002 after a devastating stroke. It took 18 months of hard work to become the best version of his new self. He looked forward to family gatherings at Aunt Joan’s. He always won the “Who could eat the most ravioli” contest. He loved being a “Grampy” to his granddaughter Katelyn, “the apple of his eye,” and was very proud of her accomplishments. No animal that came knocking at his door was ever turned away. They always found love, food, and safety. He never lost that twinkle in his eye nor his wry smile. He will be missed and remembered always and forever.
He was predeceased by his son, Christopher Soucy.
Besides his loving wife Carol, he is survived by his daughter Gail and her husband Robb Turilli; his granddaughter Katelyn Ryan; his brothers Thomas and his wife Marilyn, Michael Soucy, and Robert Soucy; and his sister Lynn and her husband Jay Lundergan. He was also survived by his godmother, Aunt Joan and Uncle Russ Gebo, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
