Michael P. Breen
Michael P. Breen, 72, of Nashua, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully in Merrimack, NH, on 8/8/2026 after being surrounded by wonderful care and compassion from the Home Health and Hospice team and family by his side.
Born in Alexandria, Virginia, on December 19,1954, Mike was the son of the late Michael T. and Joann C. Breen.
Mike was a lifelong truck driver, a profession that suited him perfectly. He spent more than 30 years behind the wheel and working as a packer for McLaughlin Trucking, alongside some of his closest friends. He finally retired at the ripe old age of 69–although we’re not entirely sure he ever really retired. After spending that many years working, driving, and probably telling everyone how things should be done, retirement may have simply meant he no longer had to get up in the winter and “go to work,” only if he wanted to.
Mike was a lifetime member of the Polish American Club in Nashua, where he found exactly what he needed in life: good friends, good times, and plenty of stories.
If you knew Mike, you knew he had a personality all his own. He had a way of making himself known–whether through a story, an opinion that he was more than happy to share, or simply by being Mike. As sports and music enthusiast, Mike loved a good game and Budweiser! A New England fan for sure but nothing beat his Minnesota Vikings!
He was hardworking, loyal, and–depending on who you ask–occasionally a little stubborn. But that’s also part of what made him Mike. He lived life on his own terms, surrounded himself with people he cared about, and wasn’t afraid to tell you exactly what he thought.
Mike’s greatest treasures weren’t things, they were people, friendships, and the club. Many of his closest friendships began during his years at McLaughlin Trucking and The Polish and Canadian Club. Those friendships meant the world to him. You all know who you are!
Mike is survived by his 2 daughters, Michelle Breen and partner Matthew Vautier, Joann and husband Ryan Merrill, granddaughters Aryana Aldrich, MaKayla Aldrich, Meadow Breen, Johannah Merrill, Emmylou Merrill, Kilee Merrill, and sister Marie Pierce. He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael T. and Joann C. Breen, and his brother, John Breen.
He also leaves behind countless friends, coworkers, club members, and people who knew him well enough to have at least one good Mike story–and probably a few that are better left out of the obituary.
Mike’s passing leaves a hole in the lives of those who loved him. But if Mike had anything to say about it, he’d probably tell everyone not to make too big a fuss.
So instead of saying goodbye, let’s say “See you later, Mike.”
So, mourn not, for he is in heaven rocking out!
“In the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years.” Mike certainly put some life into those years.
Rest easy, Mike. The road may finally be quiet, but the stories are just getting started. If you have a story about Mike that he wouldn’t want repeated, well… that’s probably the story everyone needs to hear:
