Ilga Skilins

Ilga Skilins, age 78, passed away on Friday, August 7, 2026 in the Catskill Mountains in NY. She was born on February 17, 1948 in Lubeck, Germany to Zenta and Roberts Sisenis.

She dedicated her life to spending time with and supporting her family and was happiest when enjoying time in nature. Ilga enjoyed creating any nature inspired artwork via various mediums. One of her favorite ways to relax was to enjoy the waterfront at Bebrupe, located within the Latvian Community of Piesaule in Bradford, NH, where she spent much of her time.

Ilga was well known for her kindness, reliability, and unwavering loyalty. She is survived by her daughters, Inga and husband Jaron Slattery of Hollis, NH, and Lara and husband Michael Ajemian of Duxbury, MA. Ilga, known as Omi to many, adored her three grandchildren, Taylor Slattery, Lija Ajemian, and Henry Ajemian. She’s also survived by her niece, Tamara and husband Peter Rasum, of Clearwater, FL, as well as relatives and friends in the United States and Latvia.

She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 47 years, Valdis Skilins.

Ilga’s Memorial will be private and a Celebration of Life will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, please donate in Ilga’s memory to Piesaule, a “home away from home” for the Latvian community.
