Mary Jo (Welper) Pond

Mary Jo (Welper) Pond, 75, of Nashua, widow of Russell S. Pond, passed away Thursday afternoon, August 6, 2026, after a period of declining health.

Born in Nashua on November 13, 1950, she was a daughter of the late Grant A. and Marjorie E. (Paine) Welper. Educated in Nashua schools, Mary was a graduate of Mount Saint Mary’s High School Class of 1969.

In addition to raising her family, Mary Jo worked as a Licensed Nursing Assistant at Greenbriar Terrace Healthcare and Courville at Nashua. She also worked for a time at a nursing home in Bedford, NH and for Home Health and Hospice. She later worked at Bradlees department store in Nashua while raising her family.

Mary Jo loved children and supported more than 13 foster children. In her leisure time, she enjoyed Four Wheeling and camping. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Cedars Melkite Church of Manchester.

Mary Jo and her husband, Russell, were married on August 9, 1980 and shared 35 years together until his passing on June 9, 2016.

Members of her family include her daughters, Kara Siwik and her husband John of Nashua, and Noreen M. Pond of Hill, NH; a grandson, Patrick Siwik; a brother, Paul Welper and his wife, Denise of Nashua; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Mary Jo was predeceased by her brother, Stephen G. Welper; and her sister, Catherine Welper.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staffs of the Adult Day program at Alvirne High School and Home Health & Hospice for their care and kindness to Mary.

Calling hours will be held at Our Lady of the Cedars Melkite Church, 140 Mitchell Street, Manchester on Thursday, August 13th from 9 to 11 a.m. followed by her funeral service at 11 o’clock. Friends are invited to attend. Interment will take place at the New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway in Boscawen, Tuesday, August 18th at 1:00 p.m. Donations may be made in her memory to Our Lady of the Cedars Melkite Church, 140 Mitchell Street, Manchester, NH 03103 or to Home Health & Hospice, 7 Executive Park Drive, Merrimack, NH 03054.
