James “JC” Frank Charkis
James “JC” Frank Charkis, age 81, passed away August 2, 2026, at his residence in Nashua, New Hampshire. Born in Nashua, New Hampshire, on November 21, 1944, James was the son of the late Julian and Stephanie (Winiarski) Charkis.
Born and raised in Nashua, James graduated from Nashua High School in 1962. Following graduation, he proudly served his country in the United States Army, including service in Vietnam. After his military service, he built a career as a letter carrier with the Boston Postal Service. He spent many years living in Boston before returning to Nashua, where he made his forever home. James was known for his artistic spirit, his service to his country, and his appreciation for the people in his life. He was an artist, a veteran, a devoted brother, a caring uncle, and a loyal friend whose presence will be deeply missed by those who knew him.
James is survived and lovingly remembered by his brother-in-law, Adrian; his nephew, Jason; and many cherished friends who will forever remember the laughter, kindness, and joy he brought into their lives.
He was predeceased by his sister Virginia Kerouac.
James’s family asks that, in honoring his memory, you remember him for his laughter.
