Michael S. Hamilton

Michael S. Hamilton, 80, longtime resident of Bedford, NH died on June 15, 2026, at the Community Hospice House, Merrimack, NH, after a period of declining health.

He was born on August 9, 1945, in Hanover, NH, a son of the late Ernest and Lavalette (Sage) Hamilton.

Michael was a graduate of Lawrence Academy, UMASS Amherst and Fitchburg State College.

He worked for over 35 years as an English teacher for the Milford School District. Most students would remember him for his speech class.

He enjoyed his summers on Cape Cod. Michael’s love of the Cape came from working 40 summers as a park ranger at the Cape Cod National Seashore. He loved riding in the dunes and walking the beaches.

Michael also enjoyed being a volleyball official and softball umpire for many years.

He is survived by his significant other, Tamara Sodders of Bedford, NH, his two children, Michael Hamilton of Goffstown NH, Allison Hamilton (Nuno) of Portugal, and Tamara’s children, Brian Sodders (Jenna) of Amherst, Katie Works (Chris) of Milford, NH, And Molly Burns of Dover. He was “Pops” to Siena, Luca, and Max and “Grandpa” to Bradyn, Julia and Margaret.

Michael is also survived by his three brothers Jeffrey Hamilton (Margaret), Mark Hamilton (Lois) and Jonathan Hamilton (Maura).

SERVICES: In accordance with his wish’s burial will be private. A celebration of “Mike” will be held at a later date.
