Leona G. Roy
Leona G. Roy, 92, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 5, 2026 at Ridgewood Center in Bedford, NH after a period of declining health. She was born on January 13, 1934 to the late Helen (Joan) and Charles Gallant.
Leona was predeceased by her beloved husband, Ronald Roy, in 2023, after many happy years together. She was also predeceased by her son, Douglas Abbott, her brother, Charles Gallant, Jr., and her sister, Lillian Champagne.
Throughout her long and fulfilling life, Leona was an amateur painter, a Red Cross volunteer, telephone operator, dessert lover, enthusiastic shopper, dog lover (notably Patsy, Reena, and Digger), accomplished seamstress, and captivated global traveler.
She enjoyed her flower gardening in Amherst, trips to the New Hampshire and Maine coasts, had a lifelong interest in history, was a voracious reader and always interested in learning. She had a penchant for baking desserts and especially enjoyed eating any sweet indulgence. In recent years, she enjoyed special treats of lobster rolls, sweets and other goodies from family.
She is survived by her nieces Cathy Arredondo, Debra Geisel, Donna Tremblay, Holly Burns, and Lisa Gomez, and nephews Alan Gallant and Rob Roy. She also leaves behind her favorite cousins Joan Smith and Nancy Reardon.
Her greatest joy was time spent with friends and family. Leona looked forward to visitors with eagerness. She was always ready for a trip, a family gathering, outings with friends and especially adventures with Ron.
Her family is grateful to the staff of Ridgewood Center for their care and attention the last several years, and, more recently to the staff and volunteers of Home, Health & Hospice Care of Merrimack, NH.
