Barbara E. Wright, 90, died suddenly on Friday, June 12, 2026 at her home. She was the beloved wife of the late Charles Wright with whom she shared 37 years of marriage prior to his passing in November of 1995.

Barbara was born in Gardner, Massachusetts on November 16, 1935 and was the daughter of the late Alvin and Stella (Stone) Mattson. She grew up in small tightknit community of Baldwinville, Massachusetts. She was a graduate of Templeton High School and met her future husband working at the local drug store in town.

Barbara was an avid card player who never passed up an opportunity to gather around the table with her family for a game. She cherished the many beach trips she shared with her late husband, Charles, and always looked forward to her annual family vacation to Loon Mountain, a beloved tradition that spanned more than 40 years. Barbara was deeply devoted to her family and was the person everyone could count on in times of need. Kind, caring, and selfless, she celebrated every milestone, birthday, holiday, and accomplishment with genuine joy. She was a constant source of support, faithfully attending countless sporting events for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, cheering them on every step of the way. Barbara had a special gift for making Christmas magical and creating cherished memories for those she loved. Her unwavering love, generosity, and dedication to her family will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

She is survived by her four children, Charles Wright of Litchfield, Craig Wright of Loudon, Cheryl O’Brien and her husband William of Hudson, and Debra Petz and her husband Joseph of Merrimack; her eight grandchildren, Tonya Hanson and her husband Nickolas, Shane O’Brien and his wife Hunter, Kimberly Clithero and her husband Jon, Matthew O’Brien, Jennifer Petz and her husband Jonas Plesch, Charlie Wright and his fiancé Meagan Hopkins, Steven Petz, and Stefanie Thomas and her husband Andrew Lynch. She is also survived by her six great-grandchildren, Ashley Hanson, Nickolas Hanson, Isabel O’Brien, Grace O’Brien, Hailey Clithero and Lily Thomas; as well as her four nieces.

Sadly, in addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Marilyn Lirette.
