Raymond Kenneth Somero

Raymond Kenneth Somero, 94, of New Ipswich, NH died Sunday, May 10, 2026, at St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua, NH after a brief illness. He was born in New Ipswich, NH on April 28, 1932, the son of Eino and Femmie (Hermanson) Somero. He married Miriam L. Wikstrom on October 9, 1954, who passed away in January of 2016. Ray graduated in 1950 from Appleton Academy in New Ipswich. He was a United States Coast Guard veteran who served as a radar operator. He had previously lived in Merrimack, NH, Daytona, FL and Hudson, NH. Through the years he worked at the Angel Novelty Company, Rollstone Buick, and spent 31 years at the New England Telephone Company. Raymond was a member of the New Ipswich Independent Apostolic Lutheran Church. In his younger years he enjoyed playing baseball for various towns’ teams. Ray attended high school swimming events that his daughter Liisa competed in, his son Gary’s baseball games, as well as the softball and volleyball games that his granddaughter Laina competed in. He watched New England sports teams, including the Red Sox. His greatest enjoyment in life was being with his family. Ray’s surviving family includes one son, Gary K. Somero; his daughter Liisa’s partner, Dave Desautels; grandchildren, Laina Somero and her partner Josh St. Jean, Kimberly Chambers, Matthew Somero, Natalie Somero; one great-grandchild, Evelyn Willow St. Jean; one brother, Earl Somero and his wife Maria; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and a host of brothers and sisters in faith. Raymond was predeceased by his parents, his wife Miriam, his daughter Liisa; two sisters, Ingrid (Somero, Seppanen) Hintsala and Mildred (Somero) Henault; and five brothers: Irvin, William, Arthur, Glendon, and Edwin. Calling hours will be held on Friday, May 29, 2026, from 10am-12pm, at the Independent Apostolic Lutheran Church, 34 Beechwood Road, New Ipswich, NH 03071. The funeral service will be held at 12pm. A burial at Central Cemetery in New Ipswich, NH will immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Greenville Firefighters Asso. P.O.
