Ronald P. Voveris
Ronald P. Voveris, 81, a longtime resident of Nashua, passed away peacefully early Wednesday morning, May 13, 2026, surrounded by his loving family, after a period of declining health.
Born in Lowell, Massachusetts on May 23, 1944, he was the son of the late Joseph P. and Frances (Shulbelka) Voveris. Shortly after his birth, Ron moved with his family to Nashua, where he would spend most of his life. He was a proud graduate of Nashua High School, Class of 1962, and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from Plymouth State College. While at Plymouth State, Ron was a talented pitcher on the baseball team and was later honored with an induction into the college’s Hall of Fame.
Ron served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from October 1966 to October 1972, achieving the rank of Specialist 4. After his military service, he continued his education at Rivier College, completing additional graduate-level coursework.
He began his professional career in electronics, working at Sprague Electric and Buckbee Mears, before finding his true calling in education. Ron joined the Nashua School District as a social studies teacher, beginning at Nashua High School on Elm Street and continuing at Elm Street Junior High School, where he dedicated 34 years to teaching and mentoring his students.
A lifelong sports enthusiast, Ron coached the “Twins” Babe Ruth baseball team for a decade, sharing his love of the game with younger generations. He also coached freshman baseball for Nashua High School, and was the equipment manager under Buzz Harvey. He was an avid reader, enjoyed fishing, and was a devoted fan of the New York Giants. In quieter moments, he found joy in tending his vegetable garden and watching the birds, simple daily rituals that brought him a deep sense of peace and connection to the seasons.
Ron also cherished time spent by the ocean. He loved taking vacations with his family, with a special fondness for Aruba, where the warmth of the sun, the rhythm of the waves, and the beauty of the beach brought him deep happiness. Those trips became treasured traditions and lasting memories for all who shared them with him.
Above all, Ron was devoted to his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of over 55 years, Jeannine O. (Prunier) Voveris, whom he married on August 22, 1970 at St. Joseph Church in Worcester, Massachusetts; his three daughters and their husbands, Laura and Brett Gaffke, Kathryn and Paul LaFlamme, and Krystina and Christopher Quimby; and his two cherished grandchildren, Julia LaFlamme and Andrew LaFlamme. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Ron was predeceased by his son, John Paul Voveris, and his brother, Joseph M. Voveris
