Barbara Houghton Fournier (Ursitti)
Barbara Houghton Fournier (Ursitti), age 79, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2026, at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, New Hampshire.
Born on September 5, 1946, in Clay Center, Kansas, Barbara was the daughter of William and Wilma (Brown) Houghton. She was raised and educated in New York, graduating from Long Lake Central School. She later attended SUNY Oneonta State.
On December 11, 1987, she married the love of her life, David J. Fournier, and built a beautiful life together. They made Nashua, New Hampshire, their home, where they have lived since the mid-1980s.
She worked for many years at Norwood Realty and later at Ear, Nose, and Throat Physicians of Nashua, where she was known for her dedication and kindness.
Barbara volunteered extensively with the Boy Scouts for her son, Michael. Her commitment and leadership were widely recognized, and she made history as the first woman to receive a leadership award within her scouting circle. An accomplishment she held with quiet pride.
Barbara found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She was a talented crafter who loved sewing, and she had a special passion for flowers and gardening, often spending time tending to her plants and creating beauty around her home. She also adored her little dogs, especially her beloved Rosie, who brought her great companionship and happiness.
Barbara is predeceased by her sister, Phyllis Burger of Florida. She is survived by her loving husband David, her son Michael Ursitti and his wife Jean, grandsons Franklin and Harrison, great-grandchildren Brody and Jasper, sister Janet Houghton, and brother William Houghton.
