Sarah “Sandee” (Chicres) Katis
With sadness, we announce the passing of Sarah “Sandee” (Chicres) Katis, 78, of Bedford, New Hampshire, formerly of Nashua, New Hampshire, who passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 26, 2026, following a courageous and lengthy battle with cancer.
Sandee was born on August 1, 1947, in Lowell, Massachusetts, and was the beloved daughter of the late John and Georgia Chicres. She became a devoted wife to George Katis, who predeceased her in 2024 following 53 years of marriage. She was also predeceased by her cherished sister, Jo-Ann Wollen.
Sandee leaves behind her treasured children: Charles Katis and his wife Angela; Mark Katis and his wife Kelly and her daughter Kassandra Katis. She was the adored Yia-Yia of seven grandchildren: Isabella, Juliana, Ava, Mia, Nicholas, Anthony, and Sophia, each of whom brought immense joy and pride to her life.
Sandee also leaves behind a large extended family from the Lowell area, including her beloved cousins Sheila Sweeney and Charlie Mentas, with whom she shared countless cherished memories, laughter, and love.
Sandee found her greatest happiness in the simple but meaningful moments of life–laughing with her children and their friends during their years growing up on Lille Road in Nashua, creating lasting memories, and later spending treasured summers poolside at her Bedford home with her grandchildren, where her love for sweets and family continued to shine.
Sandee’s family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the oncology nurses and physicians at The Solinsky Center for Cancer Care at Elliot Hospital Center, as well as the dedicated caregivers at Granite VNA Hospice House, whose kindness, dignity, and steadfast presence provided immeasurable comfort to Sandee and her loved ones.
A Funeral Service will be held at St. Philip Greek Orthodox Church, 500 West Hollis Street, Nashua, New Hampshire, on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at 10:00 am. All are kindly asked to meet directly at the church. Burial in Edgewood Cemetery in Nashua is private.
