William “Bill” Valentine Flynn

Apr 17, 2026

William “Bill” Valentine Flynn, 94, of Nashua, New Hampshire, passed away on March 24, 2026. He leaves behind wonderful memories of a life lived to the fullest.

Bill was born on May 17, 1931, in Boston, Massachusetts. He grew up in Northborough, a town he really loved. He spoke fondly of his youth, from swimming in local ponds to spending time with his father at Woodside Mill. After serving in the Air Force during the Korean War, he pursued a career as an aerospace engineer at Raytheon, contributing to projects like the Patriot Program. He was preceded in death by his siblings: Maryjane Gogan, Peter, and Richard.

Alongside his beloved wife of 58 years, Barbara, Bill raised five daughters–Kathy, Beth, Patty, Susan, and Janey in Andover, Massachusetts. The family of seven moved to Europe, a leap of faith involving logistics Bill excelled at. After five years in Holland, Bill and Barbara settled in Nashua, NH, where Bill worked as a ranger and a starter at Overlook Golf Club and began writing historical fiction about golf and Cape Cod. His last book focused on interplanetary cooperation, something he hoped for future generations.

Bill was passionate about golf, playing pool, barbecuing, traveling, dancing, singing tunes from his youth, and cheering for New England sports teams. Even at 94, he was sending text messages filled with emojis and actively posting on Facebook. His quick wit and sense of humor often made him a memorable presence.

He took immense pride and joy in following the lives of his children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. His humor, curiosity, and diverse interests created a lasting impact that continues to inspire those who knew him. Bill truly lived life to the fullest.

The family will hold a celebration of life in honor of Bill at a later date.
