Roland M. Noyes
Roland M. Noyes, 93, of Nashua, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2026.
Born on November 25, 1932, in Nashua, Roland was the son of the late Harrison H. Noyes and Iola M. (Stevens) Noyes. He spent his life deeply rooted in the Nashua community, where he built a legacy of service, aviation excellence, and dedication to others.
Roland proudly served his country as a member of the Air National Guard and the United States Air Force, achieving the rank of Tech Sergeant and working as a skilled Communications Technician. Following his military service, he began a long and accomplished career with the New England Telephone Company. His expertise later brought him overseas to Tehran, Iran, in 1978, where he worked with American Bell International during a pivotal time in global communications.
On December 14, 1972, Roland married the love of his life, Gail, in Nashua. Together, they shared many years of companionship, support, love, and laughter.
Roland was a devoted member of the Congregational Church in Hollis and remained active in numerous organizations throughout his life. He was a member of the Quiet Birdmen, a private, international fraternal organization of aviators dedicated to preserving aviation history and camaraderie among pilots. He was also a member of American Legion Post 48 and served for many years with the Civil Air Patrol, contributing his time and knowledge to mentoring and service.
A passionate patriot, Roland volunteered with the Patriot Guard Riders, an organization that honors fallen military members, veterans, and first responders by attending services and providing respectful escort and support for grieving families.
His dedication to aviation was unmatched. Roland was appointed to the Nashua Airport Authority from 1993 to 1998 and was honored as a recipient of the prestigious Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award, recognizing over 50 years of safe flight operations. He spent more than five decades as a certified flight instructor, holding numerous ratings including Commercial (COMM), Single Engine Land (SEL), Single Engine Sea (SES), Multi-Engine Land (MEL), and Certified Flight Instructor Instrument (CFII)–accomplishments of which he was immensely proud. When he wasn’t in the air, Roland loved to fish. He especially enjoyed fishing on Lake Winnipesaukee. Roland is predeceased by his daughter Marilyn and son Michael.
Besides his loving wife of 53 years, Gail, he is survived by his son Daniel and his wife Suzanne Noyes of Texas, his daughter Elizabeth “Betsy,” and her husband Robert Fleming of Arizona, grandchildren, Rebecca, Craig, Shawn, Ashley, and Isaiah, and great-grandchildren, Allison, Kate, Abigail, Michael, Cameron, Graham, Piper, and Adrian.
