Eleanor M. Corriveau
Eleanor M. “Ellie” Corriveau, 101, of Nashua, widow of Eli J. “Frenchy” Corriveau, passed away peacefully Thursday afternoon, April 2, 2026 at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack.
Born in Manchester, New Hampshire on June 26, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Francis P. and Jennie M. (Flower) Connor. Ellie and her family resided in Medford, MA before moving to Nashua in the early 1930s. She was educated in local schools and graduated from Nashua High School Class of 1943 where she was remembered for “her small size, her ambition to graduate from the Copley Fashion School, and her fashionable dress.”
Ellie married Frenchy and she made slipcovers and draperies for the E.J. Corriveau Upholstery on Lake Street in Nashua. Ellie enjoyed life to the fullest and never sat still even as she worked from home and raised three children. She enjoyed sewing, making quilts, making stained glass, needle pointing, painting, beading, knitting, crocheting, arranging flowers and gardening. She also enjoyed snow and water skiing, golfing and traveling. She loved playing cards and Bridge, Scrabble, Rummicube and doing jigsaw puzzles. She enjoyed making huge bubbles and performing her silly “magic” shows.
She and her husband also resided in New Smyrna Beach, Florida for several years but always returned to spend the summer at their camp at Baboosic Lake which they bought in 1958. Their camp was their special place that five generations grew up at. It was the family gathering place for birthdays, holidays, and having fun swimming, boating, and fishing. She will be remembered for her deep love for her family, the way that she made everyone feel special and having a knack for connecting with animals of all kinds.
Ellie and Frenchy were married in 1946 and shared nearly 63 wonderful years together until his passing on February 16, 2009. She was also predeceased by her daughter and sons-in-law, Linda L. and Chandler S. Knight, and Jason “Jay” Crook; and her brothers, Richard M. Connor and Robert F. Connor.
Members of her family include her daughter, Virginia “Ginny” Crook; her son, Kelly Corriveau and his wife Cherry Econ; five grandchildren, Jamie Carlen and her husband Jim, Jodie Cloutier, EJ Corriveau, Sam Crook and his wife, Nastya, and Jed Crook; seven great-grandchildren, Zac Clancy, Saralyn Carlen and her fiancé, Nick, Samantha Carlen, Ellie Finney and her husband Jahlan, Avery Crook, Mila Crook and Ivy Crook; a great-great-grandson, Killian Clancy; also nieces and nephews.
