Claire J. Monast

Claire J. Monast, 84, of Nashua, passed away on March 21, 2026 at St. Joseph Hospital. She was born in Nashua on December 13, 1941, the daughter of the late L. George and Mary (Caron) Monast. Claire was educated in local schools, attending St. Louis Elementary School and St. Louis High School, and went on to earn her Bachelor of Science degree in Business from Rivier University.

Claire dedicated over 25 years of her career as an administrative professional at IMPCO (Ingersoll-Rand), where she was known for her reliability and strong work ethic. She retired in 2008.

A woman of deep faith and generosity, Claire was a longtime and devoted parishioner of St. Louis de Gonzague Church. She volunteered faithfully, serving on the finance committee and offering her time as a lector at Mass. She also gave her time to St. Joseph Hospital, where she lovingly helped create prayer shawls, and volunteered at the Grey Nuns Thrift Shop.

Claire found great joy in simple pleasures. She loved gardening, working with florals, crocheting, and playing cards at The Hunt Community. She formed many lasting friendships there, including a special longtime friend who helped make her transition to the community seamless. Claire was actively involved in numerous committees and was always willing to lend a helping hand.

She will be remembered for her kindness, her faith, and her quiet dedication to others. Claire’s presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Claire is survived by her sister Louise Monast of Nashua, NH; her sister in law Louise B. Monast of Port St. Lucie, FL; her nephew Michael Monast and his wife Eleanor; her nieces Lynne Wilson and her husband Peter, and Natalie Lancia and her husband Dominick, her great nieces and nephews Jacqueline and her husband Brett, Ryan, Caroline, Evan, Lindsey, Lauran, her great grandnephew Finley, and her cousin Sister Elaine Caron, SSA.

She was predeceased by her brother George Monast.

Family and friends are invited to Claire’s funeral Mass on MONDAY, March 30th at 10 AM at St. Louis de Gonzague church, 48 W. Hollis Street, Nashua. Interment will follow at the Old St. Louis Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hunt Community and indicate that it is for the Hunt Scholarship Fund in memory of Claire Monast.
