George Edwin Hindy

Mar 13, 2026

George Edwin Hindy passed away on March 4, 2026, at the age of 31. He possessed a loving soul and was very dear to his family and friends. George was born in Nashua, New Hampshire, on April 28, 1994. He was raised in Nashua, attending the Nashua public schools, and then was off to college at the University of Maryland, College Park. He was an excellent student and studied journalism, economics, and psychology. He later returned to New England, transferring to the University of Maine at Orono. He worked in sportswear production, in building circuit boards, in caring for housebound and institutionalized people, and had a goal of becoming an ABA (Applied Behavioral Analysis) therapist for autistic children. George was a gentle, trusted, and caring person and a wonderful mentor for children. His nieces and nephews loved him dearly.

George also resided in Connecticut, Texas, and Florida; then in Milford, New Hampshire, for the past 5 years. He was always an abstract thinker who made wonderfully insightful connections among ideas, a creative writer, and aspired to be an author. George also loved making comical videos and annotated photographs, which he shared with his friends and family. His uncanny awareness of people and his dry sense of humor were unmatched.

George’s compassion for animals, cats in particular, was one of his most tender loving characteristics, and he sometimes adopted feral cats. He had a dream to rescue cats as a full-time job and to purchase a van to go and retrieve them, socialize them, and re-home them. The cats he rescued sometimes seemed incapable of affection for anyone else, but George, and his affection for them was restorative. On one occasion, he saved a feral cat from certain death that had gotten stuck in a wrought-iron railing. The stray cat was large and aggressive, but meekly accepted George’s help without attempting to scratch or bite him.

George will be dearly missed by all his friends and family. Surviving family members include his parents, Susan Vonderheide (married to his stepfather Joseph Vallier Jr.) and Carl Hindy (married to his stepmother Donna Roe), siblings, Nicholas Hindy (married to Harriet Eldredge Hindy), Jacqueline Kurciviez (married to Bradford Dean Kurciviez, Jr.) and Gregory Hindy (married to Nicole Emanuel), and step-siblings Jennifer Vallier, Lisa Vallier, Ann Vallier, William Roe (married to Karen Roe), Shaun Roe (married to Kristen Roe). He is also survived by Uncle Mark (Married to Lisa Vonderheide); Uncle Peter (married to Liis Mattik); Uncle Stephen (married to Pamela Vonderheide), and Uncle Jeffery Hindy, as well as 16 nieces and nephews. George was the beloved Godfather in the baptisms of Nathan and Theo, sons of his brother Nicholas and sister-in-law Harriet.
