Herbert Avery Thistle
Herbert Avery Thistle 90, passed away February 26th in Wickenburg Arizona. He was born on July 8, 1935, in Everett, Massachusetts, the youngest child of Robert and Minetta Avery Thistle. He grew up in Hollis, New Hampshire, where he met the love of his life, Dorothy “Dolly” Munroe.
Herb spent many years as a part-time officer in the Hollis police department. He enjoyed buying and selling used cars, loved old westerns and touring the country on his Goldwing motorcycle. He and Dolly took many cross-country trips together. In 2010, after many adventures on the open road, Herb and Dolly settled in Wickenburg, Arizona.
Herb will be remembered for his sharp wit, generous character, and his sometimes unintelligible New Hampshire accent. Most of all, he will be remembered for his deep love for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Herb goes on to join his sons, Daniel Noel and Robert Avery and his granddaughter, Melody Autumn, who passed away in 2023 and 2024.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Dolly; his daughters, Lori Thistle and Dale Power; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and the many friends and family members who were fortunate enough to know him.
A celebration of life will be held in New Hampshire in June.
