NASHUA, NH – Dorothy “Dot” Nichols, 98, a lifelong resident of Nashua, passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2026, following a brief illness. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose love for her family was the center of her life.
Born in Nashua on March 1, 1927, Dorothy was the daughter of the late Richard and Irene (Miller)Burgess. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Lawrence Nichols,her two sisters,Joan Kudalis and Stella Burgess, and her two brothers, Richard Burgess and John Burgess.
Dot was employed at W.T. Grants for 31 years. In her free time she found great joy spending time working with her flowers and cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren and great grandson. And her yearly trips to Florida and the white mountains. She was known for her joy of cooking and unwavering instinct to feed people, whether it was a full lunch or simply a snack, you could not stop by without sharing a meal.
Her most proud title was that of “Grandma Dot” which she was known fondly of by her grandchildren and their friends alike. She took great pride in hosting every holiday and cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchild.
Survivors include One son, David Nichols and his wife Michele, of Wilton, CT. Also one daughter, Sher Ackerman and her husband Charles, of Merrimack, NH. Six grandchildren, Charles Ackerman, Mike Ackerman and wife Jess of Merrimack, NH and Megan (Ackerman) Scott and her husband Alex of San Diego, CA .Riley Nichols and his fiancé Isabel Seaborn of New York , NY. Calvin Nichols and Ellie Nichols, of Wilton, CT. and one great grandson , Mike Jr. Also a brother and sister, Robert Burgess and Betty Ledoux both of Nashua NH. And one sister in law , Carol Burgess of Brookline NH.
