Donald Ivan Smith

Donald Ivan Smith, known by many as Don, passed away on February 11, 2026, in Bedford, New Hampshire. A native and lifelong resident of Hudson, Don was born on November 13, 1948, in Lowell, Massachusetts, to the late Ivan Robinson Smith and Mary Elizabeth (Manning) Smith.

Don grew up on Central Street in Hudson in the home built by his great-grandfather, William Smith, in the 1800s, a place that reflected his deep roots and lifelong connection to the community. He was educated in Hudson schools and was an upper-quarter graduate of Alvirne High School, Class of 1967. In 1969, he graduated with highest scholastic honors from Andover Institute of Business.

A devoted parishioner of St. John XXIII Parish at St. John the Evangelist Church in Hudson, Don was an active member of the former bereavement team ministry. He also held a strong interest in local history and was a member of the Hudson Historical Society.

Don dedicated 45 years of service to the Telegraph Publishing Company of Hudson, where he worked as Business and Accounting Manager until his retirement in November of 2013. Outside of work, he found joy in gardening, cooking and baking, seasonal and holiday decorating, word search puzzles, genealogy, studying Hudson’s history, and especially entertaining family and friends.

SERVICES: Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 19, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m as Davis Funeral Home, 1 Lock St., Nashua, NH 03064. A Funeral Mass will follow ay 12:00 pm at St. Kathryn Parish, 4 Dracut Road, Hudson, NH. Burial will take place in the spring.
