Donald Armand Laliberte (1951–2026)

Feb 6, 2026

Donald Armand Laliberte, 74, of Fort Pierce, Florida, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 26, 2026, at HCA Florida Largo Hospital in Largo, Florida. He was born on April 4, 1951, in Nashua, New Hampshire, the son of Lucien H. Laliberte and Rachel (Levesque) Laliberte.

Don attended local Nashua elementary and middle schools and was a 1969 graduate of Nashua High School. During these formative years, he took great pride in his role as a drummer with the Spartans Drum & Bugle Corps, an experience that reflected his discipline, teamwork, and love of music. He continued his support of the Spartans throughout his entire life, often enjoying their live performances in New Hampshire.

In 1971, Don entered the United States Army, where he specialized in electronics ECM/DF systems maintenance. He was stationed at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, and later in the Canal Zone in Panama. He was honorably discharged in 1974, having achieved the rank of Specialist 5 (E-5) and receiving the Good Conduct Service Medal.

Following his military service, Don continued his education by re-enrolling at the University of New Hampshire and later earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science from National University in San Diego, California, graduating in 1984. His technical expertise and leadership led to a successful career at Sanders Associates in Nashua, New Hampshire–which through successive acquisitions became part of Lockheed Martin and later BAE Systems–where he ultimately retired in 2008 as a Program Director at the age of 57.

After retirement, Don relocated to Florida, where he embraced the warm weather and devoted much of his time to his favorite pastime: playing golf. An avid golfer, Don enjoyed the friendly competition and camaraderie that are hallmarks of the game. He was a member of several golf leagues in Florida and played in the New Hampshire Senior Golfers Association league during his summers back in New England. Passionate in both his pursuit of greatness and his appreciation of the game’s many frustrations, he all but trademarked the phrase, “I suck AND I have bad luck!” as a colorful description of many rounds.

Don’s other favorite pastime in retirement was hosting friends and family at his beach house on Hutchinson Island, where a swim in the ocean or a beer at Archie’s was only a golf cart ride away.

Donald was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Paul Laliberte. He is survived by his brothers Richard, Gerry, David, and Bruce; the mother of his children, Sheryl (Elmendorf); and his four sons: COL Bryan (US Army) and his wife Alana, Jeffrey and his wife Angela, Craig and his wife Anna, and LtCol Nicholas (US Space Force) and his wife Meghan. He was also a proud grandfather (“Papa Don!”) to twelve grandchildren: Tristan, Chloe, Dylan, Sadie, Beckett, Sawyer, Juliette, Kayla, Hayden, Lucy, Finn, and Rory.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Donald’s memory may be made to the Spartans Drum & Bugle Corp at www.spartansdbc.org/support/move-a-mile. A memorial service and celebration of life are planned for June 2026 in New Hampshire with details to follow in the coming months.
