Irene S. Kwiatkowski

Feb 4, 2026

Irene S. Kwiatkowski, 91 years young, of Nashua, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully in the warmth and comfort of her own, long-time home on February 1, 2026, where she had resided for over the past 50 years.

She was born on August 8, 1934, in Jersey City, New Jersey, to her loving parents John J. Koren and Mary Koren. Prior to WW2, Irene and her family returned to the family farm in Czechoslovakia. During her formative years as a child, she and her family endured and survived the many trials and tribulations of World War II before returning to the United States with her father, and later by her younger sister Margaret.

In 1958, Irene met the love of her life Joseph F. Kwiatkowski. They were wed in September of 1959, at St. Hedwig’s Church in New Jersey. Then they relocated to Nashua, NH in the late 1960’s, where together, they built a loving family and a life centered around faith and community.

Besides being a devoted parishioner of St. Casmir Church and later St. Patrick’s Church in Nashua, Irene was also a big supporter/volunteer of The Sister Servants of Mary Immaculate Lay Program, Franciscan Mission Associates, St Joseph’s Hospital, Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Easter Seals.

She played an active role in her children’s lives, serving as Cub Scouts Den Mother and sharing her love through knitting, crocheting, gardening and cooking traditional Slovak holiday dishes. She and her daughter Karen would often debate over whose Geraniums were whose. She also loved music from traditional Slovak songs and Polkas to more modern music. Her son, John, brought her to see many live concerts of artists she enjoyed, from Linda Ronstadt to Liza Minnelli, from Tony Bennett to Phil Lesh. She once commented that “The Eleven” was her favorite Phil Lesh song.

Professionally, Irene contributed her skills as a Sales Consultant at Jordan Marsh and as a Diagnostic Technician at Kollsman. Later she became involved in Marketing and Sales Promotions for Monterey Pasta with her daughter Karen and son John helping out part time, before retiring.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Joseph, her younger brother John, and sisters Anna and Margaret.

Irene is lovingly remembered by her three children: Karen Kwiatkowski of Merrimack, NH, Kenneth Kwiatkowski and his wife Shannon of Bradenton, FL, and John Kwiatkowski and his wife Huibertje (Bertie) of Nashua, NH; and her grandchildren John MacLeod and his wife Alicia with their children Charlotte and Simon, Victoria Kwiatkowski and her fiancé Kevin Grady, AJ Kwiatkowski and his fiancée Maddie Hughes with daughter Lilly Kwiatkowski, Chris MacLeod and his wife Nicole with daughter Josie, Austin MacLeod, Olivia Gage with her son Stephen J., and Stephen A.
