Lillian M. Anderson

Lillian M. Anderson, 96, a longtime Nashua resident, passed away peacefully on Friday afternoon, January 23, 2026 at Mount Carmel Nursing Home in Manchester, NH. Lillian was the widow of Harold S. “Andy” Anderson, who passed away August 1, 1979.

Born in Newport, Vermont on June 30, 1929, Lillian Anderson was the oldest daughter of the late Henry Joseph and Rose Marie (Roy) Martin. Lillian grew up in Littleton, NH where she attended St. Rose of Lima Parochial School and graduated from Littleton High School Class of 1947. She furthered her education at Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, graduating as a Registered Nurse in 1950. Lillian and Andy were married on April 22, 1950 and resided in Worcester, MA, and Oklahoma City, OK for a time before moving to Alaska from 1952 to 1965. A longtime resident of Nashua since 1965, Lillian was active with the Nashua Chapter of the American Red Cross for over twenty years.

Lillian has been honored with many awards for her volunteer service in the community for over five decades. As an active communicant of St. Christopher’s Church, Lillian was a Eucharistic Minister, Lector, money counter and served on the Parish Council. She also brought weekly communion to parishioners at their homes. She organized and worked at various blood drawings for the local chapter of the Red Cross and at St. Christopher’s church. Be it participating in St. Christopher’s rummage sales, Christmas Fairs, and being a leader of Girl Scout troops. She also found the time to help with Mount St. Mary’s women’s track competitions. Lillian loved traveling to many places and countries including Hawaii, Alaska, Canadian Rockies, Scotland, England, and various parts of Europe.

In addition to her husband and parents, Lillian was predeceased by her brother, Ernest P. Martin; and her sisters, Carlene Dumas and her husband Joseph “George”, and Pauline L. Lund.

Members of her family include her five children, Scott E. Anderson of Brunswick, ME, Carol Jean Anderson and Nancy K. Anderson of Lambertville, NJ, Mary M. Anderson of Cambridge, MA, and Carl R. Anderson of Brunswick, ME; A granddaughter, Melanie Ann Moran; two great-grandchildren, Eila Virginia Moran and Siri Kaye Moran; and a niece, Donna Tholl.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Christopher’s Church, 62 Manchester Street, Nashua, Wednesday, February 4th at 11 a.m. Friends are invited to attend. Lillian will be laid to rest at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery in Littleton, NH at a later date with a celebration of Lillian’s life to be announced.
