Norman Reid
Norman Reid, 89, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at his home in Meredith, NH, of complications from leukemia and a fall. Norman grew up in Meredith and graduated from Meredith High School in 1954 and attended UNH the following year. He married Jane Copp and they relocated to Nashua and Hollis, NH where they raised their three children; Teryl, Richard and Lynne, eventually restoring their farmhouse and resurrecting a barn. Over the next 50 years, Norm worked for Astronetic Research, Sanders Associates, RCA, GE and Puritan Press. He was a gifted design specialist where he did much work for the NASA Space Program. At RCA, he was awarded a citation for RCA Zero Defects Program. On retiring, they moved back to Meredith. He was an avid antique and yard sale person. He collected 2,762 Lyndeborough glass bottles and took loving care storing them in his barn. In December 2021, Norm decided to donate his entire collection to the Lyndeborough Historical Society as all of the lightning glass was made by the Lyndeborough Glass Factory. He spent years categorizing this collection for a book he wrote. This project was his pride and joy. Norm was an amazing and talented person who was loved by his whole family. He played piano, keyboard and clarinet and was a member of the Hollis Town Band. As his grandchildren would say: “He was the smartest man they’ve ever known”. If you didn’t know something he would have the answer for sure.
He is survived by his wife Jane, his daughter Terri and her husband Paul Desrochers, his son Richard and companion Dianne Patti, and his daughter Lynne and her husband Ron Valeri. He has 4 married granddaughters, 7 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson. He has 1 nephew, Nelson T. Currin and his wife Jody. He is predeceased by his parents Norman and Pauline Reid (Seaver), his sister Marilyn and husband Nelson Currin, his granddaughters Rebecca and Brianna and his nephew James Currin. A Graveside Service will be held in the spring.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Lakes Region VNA and Hospice, 186 Waukewan St #6023, Meredith, NH 03253.
