Kathryn Denise Knab Fogal
Kathryn Denise Knab Fogal passed away on December 5, 2025. She was born in Altoona, Pennsylvania on April 11, 1952 to John JR and Lilia Knab. She graduated from Penn State University in 1974 with a BA in Speech Communications. Her marriage took her to Phoenixville, and then to Nashua, New Hampshire where she and her former husband, Lee, raised 3 wonderful children.
Kathi brought the gift of music to others for decades at her various music studios, in her home, and in the homes of her students. She had the unique talent of identifying each students’ strengths and interests and keeping them engaged as they grew, many staying with her from preschool to adulthood. To many of her piano families, she was family.
During retirement, Kathi found great pleasure at spending the summer camping in York, Maine. It was wonderful to find a home in such a welcoming community at Burnette’s Campground. It gave her great pleasure to review these memories when she was homebound.
Kathi was predeceased by her parents and brother, Frederick. She is survived by her sister Cynthia and husband John; son Gordon and wife Crystal; daughter Sarah and husband Luke; son Tom and partner Jennifer; granddaughter Mallory and husband Jasmine; grandchildren Maddox, Liliana, and John; nieces and nephews Lindsay, Jacob, Ashley, and Melissa, and great-granddaughter Alessandra. She also leaves behind countless families who have been touched by her love of music. Her legacy will play on for generations every time her students sit down at a piano.
Services will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Nashua on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to Meals on Wheels or Save the Music.
