Shirley Anne (Crooker) Dionne
Shirley Anne (Crooker) Dionne, age 87, of Lakeland, FL., formerly of Nashua, NH, and Cornish, ME, passed away Tuesday, November 11, 2025. Shirley was born on August 1, 1938, to Raymond and Isabelle (Marcoux) Crooker, also of Nashua. She was a graduate of St. Louis-de-Gonzague High in 1957 and married Maurice Leo Dionne in 1958. Shirley worked as a teller at the Bank of NH, was an Accounts Payable Clerk at Pennichuck Water Works, and was a legal secretary. Later in life she went back to school to fulfill her dream of nursing. She worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Maine Medical in Portland, ME.
Shirley was an avid quilter and leader of her retirement community’s Quilting Club for many years. She was instrumental in the club’s yearly donations of hand-made quilts to Domestic Violence Centers. Shirley also enjoyed cross-stitching and won awards for her works. She was a loving and welcoming individual who was a good listener and a wonderful host, often entertaining members and acquaintances of the Merrimack NH Rotary Club during her husband’s Presidency. She enjoyed camping with her family, boating and homemaking. Above all, Shirley was a supportive, loving wife and mother.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents Raymond and Isabelle (Marcoux) Crooker, sister, Lorraine West, brother, Ronald Crooker, and son Raymond Dionne. She is survived by her childhood sweetheart and husband of 67 years, Maurice L. Dionne, son, James Dionne, daughter, Leanne Young and her husband Isaac, daughter Jennifer Brede and her husband, Todd; granddaughters, Vanessa Fortin, Jocelyn Young, Erin and Erica Brede, and grandson Isaac Young; brothers-in-law Harold West and Edmond Dionne; and a number nieces, nephews and friends.
Her family would like to express their thanks for the wonderful help and care given by Lakeland’s Savannah Cottage Memory Care and Vitas Hospice.
A memorial mass will be held in January at St. Anthony’s Church in Lakeland, FL. If desired, friends may make memorial contributions to the Peace River Domestic Violence Center in Lakeland, FL.
