William Bartlett Ford

Nov 21, 2025

William Bartlett Ford of Nashua, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully on the morning of November 13, 2025, at the Kent Nursing Home in Nashua. Bill was born in 1940 in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, to Barbara A. and William J. Ford.

Because his father served in the U.S. Foreign Service, Bill spent much of his childhood overseas in England, Holland, and Malaysia. As often as they could, the family spent their home-leave summers at Lake Sunapee, New Hampshire. Bill completed his last two years of high school in Bethesda, Maryland, where he met the love of his life, Joan (Horton) Ford. Bill graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Yale University and a master’s degree from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University. He went on to build a successful career in finance, working with various manufacturing, energy, and consulting firms. Nothing made Bill happier than summer days spent on Lake Sunapee–boating, water skiing, barbecuing, and sharing laughter with family and friends. He was also an avid participant in Revolutionary War reenactments, traveling up and down the East Coast with the 2nd New York and 10th Massachusetts Regiments. Bill was an active member of the Nashua Fish and Game Club. Later in life, he found great joy in golf and curling at the Nashua Country Club–where he served as treasurer for several years–and as an airplane pilot.

Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Joan; his children, William D. Ford (and wife Alissa) of Hingham, Massachusetts, David B. Ford (and wife Susan Munter) of Framingham, Massachusetts, and Kathryn H. Ford (and husband Chris Jordan) of Dartmouth, Massachusetts; five grandchildren: Jack, Elisabeth, William, Leven, and Alexander; his sister, Maryka Ford of Kittery, Maine; and his sister-in-law, Maggie Ford of New London, New Hampshire.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at The Huntington at Nashua, Carlyle Room, on January 10, 2026, from 1-3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lake Sunapee Protective Association; The Huntington at Nashua; Visiting Angels, Nashua, New Hampshire; or Home Health & Hospice of Merrimack, New Hampshire. Bill will be remembered for his passionate intellect and his goofy sense of humor–a gift he passed on to many members of the family. He is deeply missed.
