Brenda Baines Grady

Brenda Baines Grady, 73 of Merrimack, died surrounded by her family at the Merrimack Home Health and Hospice House on November 16, 2025, of complications from a stroke.

Ms. Grady was the daughter of the late James and Muriel Baines. She is survived by her husband, John, with whom she was married for 52 years. College sweethearts, they met in a logic class.

She is also survived by two daughters, Miranda Price and her husband Austin of South Gibson, Pennsylvania and Cassandra Morton and her husband Jeff of Amherst, New Hampshire. She was proud of her five grandchildren, Mimi, Emma, and AJ Price along with Maya and Gus Morton. Ms. Grady was predeceased by a brother, David Baines of Winnipeg, Manitoba and a sister, Sandra Baines of Apopka, Florida. She is survived by a sister, Lorna and her husband Matthew of Fort Collins, Colorado and a brother, Darryl and his wife Lisa of Raymond, New Hampshire.

Ms. Grady graduated from Nashua High School and received a B.S. Degree in Biology from Plymouth State College. She did additional graduate work at Rivier University and UMASS Lowell. She taught science for thirty years and retired as head of the science department at Nashua High School North.

Active in the community, Brenda served on the Merrimack Conservation Commission, several terms on the Merrimack Municipal Budget Committee, and six years on the Merrimack School Board. She was a leading force in the Merrimack Kindergarten Coalition. Ms. Grady was a member of the Exchange Club of Merrimack. She served as vice chair of the Merrimack Democratic Town Committee and introduced President Barack Obama at a campaign rally in 2012. Ms. Grady also served as a member of the New Hampshire House of Representatives.

There will be no viewing hours or services. Her remains will be cremated, and she will be buried next to her parents at the family plot in Nashua, New Hampshire.
