Donald Spurlock
In Loving Memory of Donald Spurlock
March 10, 1926 – November 2, 2025
Donald Taylor Spurlock, beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on November 2, 2025, at the age of 99, surrounded by his children.
Don was born and raised in Fairfield, Ohio. He graduated from Fairfield High School where he pitched for the baseball team. He loved to tell the story of pitching against MLB great, Joe Nuxhall, who played for the rival Hamilton High School.
Immediately after graduation, Don enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He flew aboard B-17 bombers as a waist gunner and later a tail gunner.
After his honorable discharge, Don returned home to Ohio and began his 44-year career with Champion Papers International. He held many positions over the decades, ultimately retiring as the New England/New York customer service representative.
He met his beloved wife, Clare, in 1960 at the party of a mutual friend. It was love at first sight and they married the following year. His proudest achievement is the family that he and Clare raised together.
Don is survived by his six children: David, James, Brian, John, Donna, and Linda; and by his many grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Clare B. Spurlock (née Butler); his sister, Lois Fields; and his parents, Arnold and Katherine (Alexander) Spurlock.
A private family burial was held at Edgewood Cemetery in Nashua, New Hampshire, on November 6, 2025. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Disabled American Veterans, an organization Don deeply respected.
Don’s legacy of service, integrity, humor, and devotion to family will live on in all who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered. To leave an online message of condolence, please visit www.farwellfuneralservice.com
