John Michael Cummings
John Michael Cummings, 70, of Hudson, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2025, at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, following a lengthy illness.
Born on November 14, 1954, in Springfield, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Dorothy (Walsh) Cummings.
John was the devoted husband of Mary Cummings of Hudson, with whom he shared 45 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a loving family and a life filled with laughter, devotion, and cherished memories.
He is survived by his three sons: Matthew Cummings and his wife Meghan of New Jersey; Michael Cummings and his wife Abigail of California; and Thomas Cummings and his fiancée Kim of Massachusetts. He also leaves behind five beloved grandchildren–Hayden, Madison, Ford, Elle, and Jameson–who brought him endless pride and joy.
John is also survived by his brother, Lawrence Cummings and his wife Sevina of Massachusetts; his sisters, Maureen of Florida and Linda of Virginia; and his in-laws, Bob and his wife Kathy of Massachusetts, Tom and his wife Ventriss of Vermont, and Gary and his wife Megan of Connecticut, as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Professionally, John enjoyed a long and successful career with General Dynamics, where he worked for over 35 years as a Finance and Pricing Analyst. He also contributed his expertise at Honeywell, GTE, and Sanders Corporation.
A proud veteran, John served in the United States Marine Corps, where he achieved the rank of First Lieutenant and served as an Artillery Officer at Camp Pendleton. He later continued his service in the U.S. Army National Guard, attaining the rank of Captain and Battery Commander.
John earned his bachelor’s degree from Saint Anselm College in Manchester, New Hampshire, and went on to receive his MBA from Babson College in Wellesley, Massachusetts.
Beyond his professional and military accomplishments, John will be remembered for his love of life and family. He enjoyed working out, riding his bike, and tending to his beautifully landscaped yard. He found joy in music, reading, and taking long walks with his dog. Above all, he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather–and an avid Boston sports fan.
John will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his integrity, kindness, humor, and unwavering love for his family.
A time of visitation will be held on Sunday, November 2, from 12:00 p.m. (noon) until 2:00 p.m. at the Dumont-Sullivan Funeral Home, 50 Ferry Street, Hudson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 3, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Kathryn Church, 4 Dracut Road, Hudson. All are kindly asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will be private.
