Donald F. McAndrew, Jr.

Donald F. McAndrew, Jr., 86, of Nashua, passed away peacefully, early Sunday morning, October 19, 2025 at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, NH.
A resident of Nashua for many years, Don was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania on February 17, 1939, a son of the late Romaine (Gallagher) and Donald F. McAndrew, Sr. During his youth, Don grew up in Scranton and graduated South Catholic High School. He furthered his education at the University of Scranton, graduating in 1960 with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. During his college days, he founded The Don Andrews Jazz Band.
An Army veteran, Mr. McAndrew served from 1960 to 1965 in Okinawa, Japan and Fort Polk, Louisianna and held the rank of Captain. Following his military service, Don commenced a long career in sales with US Steel, Handy & Harmon, Penton Publishing, Gulf Publishing and retired from SLC of Westford, MA.
Don was a member of the American Legion Post 48 of Hudson and played trumpet with the American Legion Band. In his leisure time, he enjoyed tennis, racquetball, pickleball and skiing in New Hampshire, Vermont and Utah. Don also enjoyed traveling with his wife, Patricia to Arizona, Paris, France and many other countries in Europe. Don will be remembered as a wonderful family man and devoted husband and father.
In addition to his parents, Don was predeceased by his sons, Daniel F. McAndrew in 2004 and Patrick F. McAndrew in 2021; and his sister, Nancy Sillner.
Members of his family include his wife, Patricia A. (Field) McAndrew, whom he married on August 27, 1977 in Marblehead, MA and shared over 48 years together;
Brother-in-law, Louis Field of Hooksett; a niece, Betsy Garrett; grandnephew, Matthew Garrett and his wife Mary; grandniece, Abby Garrett; special family friend, Dr. Tory McKenna; and cousins residing in Scranton, PA.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to his caregivers from the Veterans Administration and Donnie Tomao, for all the care and kindness to Don.
Calling hours will be held at the FARWELL FUNERAL HOME, 18 Lock Street, Nashua on Tuesday, October 28th from 4 to 6 p.m. A Graveside service and Army Funeral Honors will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, 291 Main Street, Nashua,
