Lawrence “Larry” Decato Sr., 89 a lifelong resident of Merrimack, NH, born July 27, 1936 on Amherst Rd and passed away peacefully on October 15, 2025 on Amherst Rd, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering faith. He was the devoted husband of 70 years to his beloved wife (Judy), and a proud father to Cathy (Richard) Furze, Jaffrey NH, Lori (Jeffrey) Roth, Gorham ME, Lawrence (Chip) (JoAnn) Decato, Jr. of York, ME.

Larry was a cherished grandfather to Elicia (Todd) Bonham of Jaffrey NH, Daniel (Angela) Caron of Winchester NH, Jeremey (Kristen) Caron of Goshen NH, Paige (Kris) Roth of Portland ME, Dana (Jeana) Roth of St. Louis MO, Kallen (Janelle) Decato of Greensboro NC, Corey (Alexis) Decato of Greenland, NH, Craig (Naomi) Decato of Durham, NC, Christian (Erica) Furze of St Augustine, FL, Nathan (Jen) Furze of Warners, NY, Michael (Pam) Furze of Merrimack NH, Adam (Christina) Furze of Troy NH, Matthew Bold of Whitman MA and Meaghan (Adam) McCarthy of Canton MA; a great-grandfather to 31, and great-great-grandfather to 2, each of whom brought him immense joy and pride. He is also survived by his loving sister Daisy Murphy of Harland VT.

He was predeceased by their infant son Dana, his parents Katherine (Watkins) and Harold Decato and seven brothers, Oscar, Harry, Daniel, Joseph, Paul, Tommy and Lenny, with whom he shared a strong bond and many memories.

Known for his loyalty, trustworthiness, generosity and tireless work ethic, Larry was a man of deep faith who lived his values every day. His sense of humor was legendary – always present, even in the face of declining health, and a source of comfort and joy to those around him.

Larry had a lifelong passion for heavy equipment, which shaped his career at Ferd Corp. and continued into retirement through countless personal projects. Among his proudest achievements was the complete restoration of his Red 1950 F1 Ford pickup, a labor of love that earned him numerous awards and accolades. He took great pride in what he built, and his craftsmanship was admired by many.

Larry’s life was a testament to dedication, resilience, faith, and joy of Family. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A Celebration of Life will be held on November 15, 2025 at 1PM at Merrimack Valley Baptist Church, 517 Boston Post Rd, Merrimack NH.

In Lieu of flowers donations can be made in Larry’s memory to Merrimack Valley Baptist Church or Home, Health and Hospice, Merrimack NH.
