Ronald Joseph DeFreitas

Ronald Joseph DeFreitas, 79, of Nashua, NH, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2025. He was born in Lowell, MA on March 22, 1946, the youngest son of the late Joaquim DeFreitas and Josephine (Cotta) DeFreitas.

Ron/Ronnie was a heavy equipment operator with Local No. 4 of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Boston, MA where he was known for his dedication and strong work ethic. He was a 60 year member of the union and retired back in 2008. He attended Chelmsford, MA High School and was a member of both the Chelmsford-Lowell, MA Elks Lodge No. 2310 and the Horse Pond Fish and Game Club in Nashua, NH.

He was married to his loving wife Linda for 57 years. He loved to travel with her in their camper to the NH Lakes Region, Hampton Beach, NH and Maine, along with car driving trips to Pennsylvania and Virginia. He was an avid auto mechanic and drag raced his own hot rod named the “Dry Run” back in the early 80s. He even did hobbyist car repairs for family and friends naming his home garage, Ronnie’s. He enjoyed to tinker and build things using numerous trade skills on a myriad of projects.

He spent his free time with his grandchildren, Jack and Rose which included trips to Clark’s Bears and was proud to be called Grampy. He found pleasure in attending oval track car races and NH state auctions. He cherished time spent with his family and friends.

Aside from his parents, Ronald is predeceased by his son Scott DeFreitas and brother Richard DeFreitas.

Survivors include his wife Linda (Souza) DeFreitas of Nashua, NH, his son Robert DeFreitas of Merrimack, NH, his grandson Jack DeFreitas and granddaughter Rose DeFreitas, both of Concord, NH, along with his loving nieces and nephews.

He will be remembered for his generosity, kindness, humor and love of his family, and the many memories shared with those who knew and loved him.

SERVICES: Memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Davis Funeral Home, 1 Lock Street, Nashua, NH 03064. Family and friends are invited to attend. An interment service will be held privately for the family at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Manchester, NH.
