Judith Ruth (Reissig) Reck

Sep 30, 2025

“Awake at dawn with a winged heart and give thanks for another day of loving.” – K. Gibran

Judith Ruth (Reissig) Reck, 85, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 25th, 2025 in Nashua, NH, surrounded by her loving family.

The oldest of three daughters, Judy was born in Cincinnati, OH to the late Ferdinand and Edith (Barbiea) Reissig. She graduated from Mother of Mercy High School (Cincinnati, OH), the University of Cincinnati (BA in Business Administration), and Antioch University (MA in Social Sciences). In 1963, she married J. Rodney Reck and they shared 62 wonderful years together. Judy and Rod moved to Simsbury, CT in 1968 where they resided for the next 51 years. Never ones to sit still, they split their time between Simsbury, CT, Brownsville, VT, and Green Valley, AZ.

Judy cared deeply for the people and the world around her. Travels with family and friends took her to over 60 countries. Judy was a world-class extrovert and was happiest when on a hiking adventure with her children or grandchildren, a bird watching trip with Rod, or singing with friends. She was a member of numerous folk and choral groups. Judy was legendary for her skill at board games and puzzles-and never the first to suggest taking a break.

Her single greatest joy came from spending time with her four grandchildren. Summers with Grammy were filled with rule-breaking and non-stop fun for Ellie, Grace, Hannah, and Scott. Grammy Reck’s endless curiosity and boundless energy inspired them. She was proud of who they’ve become.

Judy was committed to her Christian faith and lived a life of spirituality. She was a member of many parishes including Christ the King Church (Bloomfield, CT) and St. Mary’s Church (Simsbury, CT). Service to others was woven into the fabric of her life. She was most passionate about battling poverty and enabling access to education, both in her local communities and in Central America. Her faith ultimately guided her from a successful career in real estate to a second vocation as a certified marriage and family therapist.

Judy is survived by her loving husband, Rod, her daughter Allison Anneser and husband Douglas of Hollis, NH, her son James Bradley Reck of Cincinnati, OH, her son Christopher Reck and wife Karen of Hopewell Junction, NY, her sister Julee Uhrig of Fairfield, OH, and grandchildren Ellie Reck, Grace Anneser, Hannah Reck, and Scott Anneser. She was predeceased by her sister Joyce.

The Reck family is grateful for the compassionate care provided by Visiting Angels of Nashua, NH, Home Health & Hospice Care of Merrimack, NH, and the many talented professionals at Kent Village in The Huntington at Nashua. We are deeply grateful to all those who cared for her. Memorial contributions can be made to Home Health & Hospice Care of Merrimack, NH.
