After ten years of service in Vermont, he relocated to Florida where he was a Patrolman for Collier County and at the Court Services Bureau in Sarasota County. When he finally retired for good, he was a Public Security Officer at Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota.

Bob spent his later years traveling the country taking photos of Police Memorials and was working on a book dedicated to the bravery of those in law enforcement, titled Blessed are the Peacemakers. He also traveled to Ireland several times with his children to learn more about his family history and genealogy.

Bob leaves behind his nine children, their partners, and his grandchildren: Heather and her daughter Autumn; Mary and her partner Ken, his children Jayden and Sophia; Robert and his wife Jennifer; Robyn and her partner Chuck, her children Jada and Briggs, his son Tyler; Sean and his fiancée Jasmine, his son Sean Jr.; Brian and his wife Sara, their children Riley, Delaney, Molly and Nolan; Brendan; Megan and her son Dylan; Kevin and his partner Amanda and their son Jack.
