Carol Ann Peters

Sep 18, 2025

Carol Ann Peters, 66, of Merrimack, NH, passed away on September 11, 2025, after an 8-year battle with severe COPD, which had worsened over the last three years. She was born in Nashua on December 26, 1958, to the late Larry Peters and Erma (Foster) Moriarty. Erma later remarried to the late Leonard Moriarty.

Carol found joy in spending time with her children and 11 grandchildren and was eagerly anticipating the arrival of a new granddaughter this December. Her grandchildren were like her own children, and she spent the final weekend of her life caring for many of them. Surrounded by a full house of love, Carol was always there when needed, and her selflessness touched everyone she knew.

She enjoyed trips to FunWorld, watching TV and Disney movies, and going out to Bingo. Carol was often seen playing games on her phone and listening to stories. Despite having little for herself, she gave so much to others. She was truly a remarkable person, showing incredible perseverance, love, and a fun, sarcastic sense of humor throughout her life.

Carol was predeceased by her sister, Sheryl Ghilardi, and her son, Michael Burtsell, who she missed deeply. She had often shared her wish to be cremated and kept close to Michael’s ashes, and she is now at peace with him.

Carol is survived by her lifelong partner of over 40 years, Brian Burtsell; her two sons, Corey Peters and Travis Burtsell and his wife, Casey; her two daughters, Katie Burtsell and her partner, Matt Fader, and Melissa Bobish and her husband, Greg; 11 grandchildren: Jeremy Adams; Cameryn, Braydyn, Natalie, Travis Jr., and Kassidy Burtsell; Abigail and Sabrina Peters; Joy and Hope Bobish; and Aubrey Fader; 4 brothers, Chuck, Henry, Daniel, and Bruce Moriarty; 2 sisters, Christine Callahan and Mary Matte; along with their spouses/significant others and several nieces and nephews.

A private celebration of life will be held by the family as she wished.

In lieu of flowers, please honor Carol’s memory by performing a random act of kindness or donating to a charity of your choice. Remember what is important, love the people around you, and she will live on in that love.
