Elizabeth G. Vallerand, 78, of Milford, NH passed away after a sudden illness on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at her summer home in Fitzwilliam, NH.
She was married to the late Donald H. Vallerand who passed away on October 31, 2017. He was her high school sweetheart, and they celebrated 50 years of marriage prior to his passing.
Born in Boston, MA, she was the daughter of the late George and Dorothy (Wilkinson) Griffin. She graduated from Lowell High School in 1964, and went on to obtain both her BA and Masters in Sociology, to pursue her love of social work. She spent her professional life working in geriatric care and advocating for the elderly. She ended her career by retiring in 2011 as the Executive Director of the Horn Home for the Aged in Lowell, a facility she loved with a mission she championed deeply.
In her spare time, Elizabeth participated in a Nero Wolfe book club, enjoyed attending events with the Nashua & Milford NH Senior Centers, and was an ardent supporter of Kitty Angels. She was a cat lover, enjoyed crafting such as quilting and knitting, watching old black & white movies, and reading.
She is survived by her daughters, Michelle and husband Christopher Castell of Amherst, NH, Mary Fleres of Amherst, NH, and Rebecca Vallerand and husband Christopher Anderson of Hancock, NH. Additionally, she is survived by her much-loved uncle by marriage, Robert Duncan of Lynn, MA, her life-long best friend Priscilla Greenhalgh of Newport, NH, six grandchildren and a brother. She was predeceased by her sister and a brother.
Elizabeth’s visitation will be Fri., Sept. 19, 2025 from 9 to 11 AM followed by a funeral service at 11 AM at the MORSE-BAYLISS FUNERAL HOME, 122 PRINCETON BLVD., LOWELL, MA. Burial to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Chelmsford, MA. Memorials may be made in memory to Kitty Angels in Nashua, NH or Friends of the Tyngsboro Elderly (to support the Council on Aging).
