Evelyn Loraine

Evelyn Loraine, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home in Merrimack on August 11, 2025.
Born on August 9, 1932, in Hudson, Evelyn was the youngest of four daughters to Charles and Laurette Berube. She was predeceased by her sisters, Claire Hall, Louise Gaudette, and Laurette Tremblay.
Evelyn’s life was marked by her remarkable achievements and her love for her family. She graduated with honors from Nashua High School in 1950 and went on to have a distinguished career at the former Nashua Trust Company bank, where she rose from bank teller to Vice President of Commercial Lending. After leaving banking, she owned and operated the Briar Brook Motor Inn in Ogunquit, ME, and later worked part-time at Wilson Farm in Litchfield and the Merrimack school system, where she formed many dear friendships.
Evelyn is survived by her three loving daughters, whom she had with Robert Loraine: Christine Dapkus of Orlando, FL, Miriam Loraine of Johns Island, SC, and Katherine Girouard of Merrimack.
She was also cherished by her sons-in-law, Kim Dapkus and Mike Girouard, as well as her many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who affectionately called her “Nonnie.”
Evelyn’s family will deeply miss her warm spirit, her love of reading, crosswords, and cooking, and her generous heart. Her grandson, Alec Girouard, will always treasure the memories of their time together playing Scrabble, Yahtzee, and exploring restaurants. Evelyn’s legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched, and her family will continue to celebrate her love, wisdom, and generosity.
As per her request, there will be no services. However, her family and friends will continue to honor her memory and celebrate her life in their own ways, remembering her as a remarkable woman who left an indelible mark on their hearts.
