Francis “Frank” Charles Quaratiello

Jul 10, 2025

Francis “Frank” Charles Quaratiello, a longtime Nashua resident, died peacefully on July 2, 2025, the day after his 81st birthday, at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington, MA. He was a kind, generous, loving family man, a dentist by profession and a lifelong learner.

Born in Boston, he grew up in the city’s West and North Ends before his family moved to Roslindale. Always hard working, he saved money from an early job at a candy store outside Haymarket and, as a teen, began investing it with his own stockbroker. He graduated from Boston College in 1967 and Tufts Dental School in 1971 before moving to Nashua and setting up his dental practice in Hollis.

He met Sandy, the love of his life and his wife of 58 years, on a date set up by mutual friends.

Over the years, they traveled the world, with Frank leading the way, always returning to the same home, where they lived for 54 years.

Possessing a natural curiosity, Frank also earned an MBA and Master’s in Education, which he put to use as a regular substitute teacher in his later years.

Gregarious and talkative, Dr. Q could make friends with strangers waiting in line at the grocery store. People were drawn to Frank and he was drawn to them.

He had a great sense of humor, was always smiling or laughing and only saw the good in people. He enjoyed life and was grateful for every day.

Frank was extremely generous to one and all. He loved buying and giving gifts, especially at Christmas.

He had many hobbies and interests over the years. He would learn everything there was to know about a subject, buy and read every book on it and then move on. Most recently, he was focused on woodworking.

Often up before the sun, Frank joined a regular crew of early risers from all walks of life at diners in Milford and then Nashua and most recently at Market Basket for coffee and conversation.

He loved his family beyond measure. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, son and cousin.

He is survived and deeply missed by his wife, Sandra L. Quaratiello of Nashua; his son, Francis S. Quaratiello of Somerville, MA, and daughter, Alice B. Donahoe of Merrimack; their spouses, Elizabeth Quaratiello and Christoper Donahoe; six grandchildren; a brother, Nick Quaratiello of Wakefield, MA, and a sister, Annemarie Cheney of Pembroke, MA; their spouses; nieces; nephews; cousins and extended family and friends.
