John G. Hickey

John G. Hickey, 58, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2025, at Portsmouth Regional Hospital, surrounded by loved ones.
Born on August 10, 1966, in Lowell, Massachusetts, John was the beloved son of Thomas and Gloria (Montbleau) Hickey. He was raised in Nashua, New Hampshire, where he attended schools in the Nashua School District. Driven by a passion for working with children, John went on to earn a degree in Early Childhood Education from Plymouth State University.
John had a deep love for animals, especially dogs, and found joy in their companionship throughout his life. John rescued and loved many dogs who often found themselves in his arms or on his lap. They are now playfully loving him as he crosses the Rainbow Bridge. He was an avid gamer, particularly drawn to interactive role-playing games where imagination and connection flourished.
A true Boston sports fan, John loved the Bruins and shared that passion with friends and family. He attended many events often with his brother.
His creative spirit extended into music and performance, and he was a proud member of various local actor and singer groups, where his warmth and humor were cherished by fellow performers.
John served in the U.S. Army Reserves and was called into duty during the Iraq War Conflict in the 94th MP Company where he bravely faced multiple SCUD missile attacks.
In addition to his mom Gloria, John is survived by his brother Marc Hickey of Arlington, MA, as well as several aunts and uncles. John considered his dogs his children or “his babies” as he would call them, always loving many at a time. They, in turn trusted John completely and knew he would always keep them safe. They knew to trust him.
