John Fessenden

John Fessenden passed away in Laconia, New Hampshire, on February 17, 2025, at the age of 74. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
John was born March 18, 1950, to the late Orville and Mary Fessenden of Brookline, New Hampshire. An avid outdoorsman, he shared his love of hunting and fishing with anyone willing to learn. He enjoyed volunteering as an instructor for New Hampshire Fish and Game, supporting veterans causes, and helping raise funds for underprivileged youth.
John moved to Long Island in Moultonborough in 1982 and was well known for being the “plow” guy. He took pride in his entrepreneurial ventures and passed down this trait to all three of his sons who own successful businesses of their own (he was very proud of this). He enjoyed living the northern New Hampshire lifestyle, was always the first to test the ice on Lake Winnipesaukee near Trexler’s Marina, and could be found making the best out of a cold winter by ice fishing with friends from all over the state.
During his retirement, John looked forward to his weekly deep sea fishing trips on the Yellow Bird with his friends and Captain Rick. His love of BBQ led him to become a certified Kansas City BBQ judge at many events throughout New England. He also traveled for his children’s weddings and special events across the country.
He had a special bond with his grandson, Nolan. The two enjoyed their frequent talks about superheroes, baseball and food. They brought immense joy to each other.
John is survived by his three sons, Sean (Laura), Steven and Patrick (Maren); grandson Nolan; sisters Ann Santerre (Kim) and Susan; brother Mark (Bonnie); nieces Jennifer Salisbury and Kelly Parker (David); and nephew David (Alicen). In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his nephews Thomas and Michael Salisbury.
Donations in John’s name can be made to Make-A-Wish at wish.org.
