Mary E. Farina

Mary E. (Murphy) Farina of Nashua, widow of Robert A. Farina, passed away peacefully on her 98th birthday, Saturday morning, May 17, 2025 at Langdon Place in Nashua.

Born in Lynn, Massachusetts on May 17, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Omer and Elsie (McCarthy) Murphy. Mary grew up and attended schools in Peabody and Lynn, MA and graduated from Lynn English High School.

Mary worked for General Electric in Lynn for many years. She met her future husband Bob Farina on a blind date at a cookout on Nahant Beach. Mary and Bob were married on Memorial Day of 1954 in Lynn, MA and moved to Nashua in October of 1960.

Mary was a devoted wife and mother. There was nothing more important than family. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were the light of her life.

In addition to raising her family, Mary held several retail positions in downtown Nashua, including Tiny Tot Land, Discount Town and Jordan’s Luggage. She enjoyed talking with and helping people.

She was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling to Italy, Ireland and Hawaii. Mary was a longtime communicant of St. Christopher Church.

Mary was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Bob, who passed away January 2, 2014.

Members of her family include her five children, Mari-Jane Farina and her husband Robert Skladany of Wellesley, MA, Robert A. Farina Jr. and his wife Rebecca, John Farina, and Susan Farina all of Nashua, and James Farina and his wife Fran of Essex Junction, VT; fifteen grandchildren, Michael Farina and husband Brian Farina-Connors and partner Taylor Goodman, Emily Wilson and her husband Brian, Kathryn Turnbloom and her husband David, Andrew Skladany, Margaret Carney and her husband Chris, Anthony Farina, Bobby Farina, Elizabeth Skladany, Lindsay Keppler and her partner Jorel Archer and Kyle Keppler; five great-grandchildren, Wesley and Carly Wilson, Lily Carney, August Turnbloom and Tayen Archer and two sisters-in-law, Janis Murphy and Carol Farina; Goddaughter Kathleen Cook Richard, also nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides her husband and parents, Mary was also predeceased by her brother, Omer Murphy Jr., sister Elsie Harney and granddaughter Mikayla Keppler.

Calling hours will be held at the FARWELL FUNERAL HOME, 18 Lock Street, Nashua on Tuesday, May 27th from 4 to 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Christopher Church, 62 Manchester Street, Nashua, Wednesday, May 28th at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
