Joanne A. Hayes

Joanne A. Hayes, longtime Milford, NH resident, died May 18, 2025 at Summerhill Assisted Living in Peterborough, NH, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

Born in Nashua, NH on December 10, 1941, Joanne was the youngest child of Dominic and Miriam Calvetti. Joanne was raised and educated in Milford, NH, where she graduated from Milford High School.

After high school, Joanne attended x-ray technician classes at Fitchburg Hospital where she met her husband, Donald Hayes. After marrying in 1960, Joanne and Donald made their home in Merrimack, NH before moving back to Milford, where Joanne lived until her move to Summerhill.

Joanne held multiple jobs over the years, but her favorite was working in the nurses’ office at Heron Pond Elementary School in Milford, NH. Joanne enjoyed working in her gardens, hosting summer pool parties for her friends, a multitude of craft projects, including knitting hats for preemie babies, but above all, Joanne loved spending time with her family.

Predeceased by her husband Donald, Joanne is survived by her children, Patty and Marc Lacasse of Greenfield, NH, Robert and Stacy Hayes of Bedford, NH, and Susan and Brian Farrell of Peachtree City, GA, her grandchildren Stephanie, Brandan, Kristin, Emily, Alexis, Patrick, Katherine, Ryan, Nick, and Olivia, and her great-grandchildren Emma, Isaac, Jayden, Kaelyn, and Landon. Joanne is also survived by her sister MaryLou Vinnes, and her family.

Memorial visiting hours are on Saturday, May 24th from 2:00-3:00pm in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford, NH. Donations in Joanne’s name can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, www.alzfdn.org
