Gerald “Jerry” Henrikson

NASHUA – Gerald “Jerry” Henrikson, 94 passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 15 at home with his loving wife of 67 years, Ruth and daughter, Karen by his side.
Jerry was born in Minneapolis, MN on January 21, 1931 to Carl and Inga (Carlson) Henrikson and grew up in the Averill Park, NY. He was the oldest of 5 children; all boys. He graduated from Averill Park High School in 1948. He attended 1 year at RPI then worked as a lab tech at NYS Department of Health in Albany, NY before being drafted in the Army on 1952; serving in Korea. After his 2 years of service, he returned to Albany and the Dept of Health. His boss insisted he return to school and arranged his job around his work schedule. Jerry returned to RPI and graduated in 1958.
Jerry married Ruth (DeGoey) that summer and took a nuclear metallurgy position in Cambridge, MA then onto making semiconductors and into 30+ years with independent fabricators and computer companies designing, manufacturing, and assembling printed circuit boards.
After both children graduated high school, in Trumbull CT, his work took Jerry and Ruth to Nashua, NH in 1979 where they still reside surrounded by some wonderful neighbors. He has enjoyed woodworking, music, computers, gadgets, doing all of his own home repairs, was the brains behind the Henrikson Cookie Operation for 20+ years; and, until recently playing bridge on Fridays at the Chelmsford Senior Center with a distinguished group of friends.
Jerry is survived by his wife Ruth (DeGoey) of 67 years. When asked the secret of being 94 and married for 67 years, he would tell you, ‘everything in moderation’, and by responding ‘Yes, Dear!’ whenever he was asked to do something.
He is also survived by his son, Gerald Henrikson Jr, wife Tresia and grandchildren Pamela, and Raymond, all residing in Pace, FL. And by his daughter, Karen, her husband Dennis Bard, and grand-pups Bo Bo and Zsa Zsa all residing in Clinton, MA.
Also survived by his youngest brother, Ronald W. Henrikson, of Wynantskill, NY.
He was predeceased by his parents Carl and Inga, and 3 of his brothers. He was “Uncle Jerry” to 11 Henrikson nieces and nephews.
