David (“Dave”) Pope
David (“Dave”) Pope died peacefully on April 23, 2025. Dave was born in Waltham, MA, on November 24, 1940, to the late Harold and Veronica Pope. Dave is predeceased by his loving wife of 56 years, Ann Marie Pope (Sweeney). Dave was an extraordinary father whose kids loved him dearly: Susan Fukuda (Shinji), Matthew Pope (Laura), Michael Pope (Denise), David Pope (deceased), Sarah Sullivan (Daniel), Patrick Pope (Amanda), Maria Camacho (George), and Joshua Pope (Jennifer). He is survived by his siblings Chris Pope (Norma Shaw), Harold “Buddy” Pope (Marcy), Lucy Pope (Mark Worgaftik), and his sister-in-law, Virginia Giles (Wayne). His sister Nancy Ross (Larry) predeceased him. Dave is survived by his genuine pride and joy – 17 grandchildren: Kei Fukuda; Natalia and Elayna Pope; Reid, Alli, and Seth Pope; Caitlin and Danny Sullivan; Harrison, Alexander, and Bennett Pope; Ryan, Sean, and Kevin Camacho; and Connor, Maddie, and Nick Pope.
Dave grew up in California before moving to Nashua, NH, where he and Ann met, married, and raised their family. After graduating from Babson College, he spent most of his career at Raytheon, in finance, program management, and ultimately as an operations manager. Dave was an avid golfer and a member of the Nashua Country Club for many years. In retirement, he moved to Stuart (Hutchinson Island), FL, where he and Ann lived beachside for 25 years until moving to Tampa, FL, to be close to family.
Dave mentored and cared for his family like no other, teaching life lessons on the golf course, providing endless financial advice and tax prep assistance, and sharing infinite life experiences in “his office.” Above all, Dave lit up when he hosted his family Christmas Eve party each year. He treasured his children, their spouses, his brothers and sisters, and the true loves of his life, his 17 grandchildren who gathered from all parts of the world to celebrate together. Dave absorbed the legacy of family that he and Ann built while watching the festivities from his chair, “perhaps” with a gin and tonic and a smoke in hand. Dave will be missed, but the memories, stories, advice, and the example he set as a son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather will last forever.
A funeral mass for both David and Ann Pope will be held Saturday, June 14th at 10:30 AM at St. Patrick’s Church in Nashua, NH, followed by a burial at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Hudson, NH.
