Ruth (Healand) Dickey
Ruth (Healand) Dickey, 88, died peacefully on Thursday, December 26, 2024, at The Fairview in Hudson, NH. She was born on May 15, 1936 in Lowell, MA the daughter of the late Patrick J. Healand and Gertrude Nickerson.
She was the beloved wife of Vernon E. Dickey. They were married on June 27, 1964, in Hudson, NH, and shared many wonderful years together until his passing.
Ruth worked at Heins Electric & Electro Metals, where she made many cherished connections throughout her career.
In her free time, Ruthie enjoyed her days at the beach, surrounded by family and friends, creating memories filled with laughter and love. She had a passion for cooking, knitting, and gardening, and she took immense pride in maintaining a beautiful home and yard.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Patrick J. Healand and Gertrude Nickerson; her husband, Vernon E. Dickey; her brother, Thomas Robert Healand; her sister, Violet Oliveria; her nieces, Ruth Ann Healand and Diane Lynne Stokes; her stepson, Vernon Cuerden; and her beloved Bichon, “GIGI.”
Ruth is survived by her stepdaughter, Cheryl (Carl) Mothershed of Monroe, GA; her adopted daughter, Diane Desjardins of Hudson, NH; her sister-in-law, Harriet Healand of Frederick, MD; her niece, Patty (Brian) Alford of Bowie, TX; her nephew, Tom (Tina) Healand of Frederick, MD; and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her dear friend, Tim Goudreault of Hudson, NH, who held a special place in her heart.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at Fairview Nursing Home for the wonderful care they provided to Ruth during her time there and a special thank you to Terry and Joanna.
SERVICES: Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Friday, January 3, 2025, at Davis Funeral Home, One Lock St., Nashua, NH. A funeral service will follow at 4:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to attend.
