Alfred Norman Thibodeau
Alfred Norman Thibodeau was known to his friends as “Al” & to his family as “Fred”, which created some confusion. He passed away Mon., Oct. 21, 2024 at Oxford Memory Care in Carrollton, TX.
Al, born on Dec. 30, 1947 in Nashua, NH, and was the 4th child of Helen & Hampey Empay Thibodeau.
He attended St. Patrick Catholic elementary school & graduated from Nashua High School in 1965. Al got a business degree from Lowell Tech (now the Univ. of MA at Lowell), and a Masters degree at the Univ. of NH.
He started his working career at John Hancock in Boston.
While in Boston, he met his future wife Kathy (Kathleen Kiburz). They were married 53 years. The first years of their marriage were spent in Nashua. In 1979 they moved to Carrollton, TX, where they were still living at the time of his death.
In Texas Al worked for a number of insurance companies. He was hired by the Univ. of Texas Southwest Medical Center, where he worked for 25 years, retiring in 2012.
Al became an avid bicyclist upon moving to Texas. It was not unusual for him to log 1,000 miles in a year. He did the Hotter N Hell 100 in Witchita Falls, TX (end of Aug.) 40 times.
Al was a wonderful planner of trips; he and Kathy went on three fantastic driving trips through parts of Europe. There were also many state side trips to National Parks and to visit family and friends in various parts of the country.
Al leaves behind his wife Kathy; brother Alan of Deland, FL (Peggy); brother Arnold of Temple, NH (Jeannie) and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Barbara Aubut, who died in 2002.
